Sign-up Sheets
In my classroom I use Google documents for all types of sign-up sheets. If you have never used Google docs, it is pretty simple to learn. It is a nice tool to use in our class because it gives you the ability to edit sign-ups and change things without having to e-mail me and wait for a response. In order for you to view the document, click on the title of the document to view the Google doc. If you are having trouble viewing these documents, please let me know!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Lunch room monitor (Tuesdays and some Fridays for 30 minutes 11:30-12:00)- Helping out in the lunch room is a huge help to the teacher. By volunteering to monitor the lunch room, you are allowing the teacher to take a lunch break. In the lunch room, you will assist the lunch lady and make sure all students are eating lunch. This job opportunity is fairly simple, and is mostly just overseeing that the students are doing what they should be doing.
Library helper- This year we do not have a librarian. I am in need of a parent that would volunteer to take my classroom to the library once a week and assist my students in checking out books. The students will have the ability to go to the library for 20-30 minutes. During this time, the students can be read to in a read aloud book, walk through the library and look through books to read, and officially check out books. Let me know if you would be willing to help out with this. I can have more than one helper for this spot and we can even alternate weeks, months, etc. We go to library on Wednesdays from 8:35-9:15am.
Classroom helper (anytime throughout the week)- Having parents actually help out in the classroom is not only beneficial for the teacher, but great for you and the students! Helping out in the classroom will consist of a variety of things from working with a student or small group, creating bulletin boards, making copies, reading to the students, grading certain assignments, and more! A classroom helper does not have to have a set day/or time to come in (although advance notice helps me prepare to utilize your time in the most meaningful way).
Recess duty monitor- I would love a volunteer to help monitor during my recess duty. This job would consist of watching my class as they play for recess. This opportunity is a fun and easy job to do. It also would allow me to get a few things done to prepare for the next part of class. My recess duty is every Wednesday and Thursday (and occasional Fridays) from 12:00-12:20pm.
Parent Skills Demonstrations/Presentations- Do you have a special talent or skill? Do you have a job or experience you would like to share? If so, I would LOVE to have you come into the classroom and give a presentation/demonstration to our class on your topic. Truly, the sky is the limit when it comes what can be done. For example, one year I had a mother happen to be a tick expert (yes, I am talking about the insect). This mother brought in ticks and had microscopes for the kids to study them and then did a presentation about this topic. So, if you think you would like to share something with our class (no matter how big or small), please let me know so we can get you on our schedule! This is meant to be a stress free and fun way to be involved in your child's education.
